According to a study by research firm Sandelman & Associates:

Consumer use was up 2.2 percent in Q3 compared to the year prior
Market share up 0.6 percent
Total ad awareness up 6.5 percent

"There was a lot of talk that this would hurt Chick-fil-A, but it actually helped the brand," Jeff Davis, president of Sandelman, tells USA Today.

I posted that back in 2012

I ran across this article in Business Week:

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/20 ... the-stores

Chick Fil A has 1,683 units. KFC has 4,556 (2012)

Chick Fil A is open 6 days per week. KFC is open 7

In 2013 Chick Fil A gross revenue was $4,621,100. KFC gross revenue was $4,459,000

So fewer stores, less hours for those stores and CFA still outsold KFC.

I had said that this whole gay outrage hooplah might have been ginned up as a massive PR stunt. Probably impossible to know if it was or not. If it was, it is probably impossible to tell how much it helped.

Doesn't seem to have hurt.

Well played, CFA, well played.

And in other news, I am now in day 5 of using Comodo Dragon after ditching Firefox. The more I use it, the more I like it. I should have done this some time back. Dragon is much peppier and cleaner than
Firefox. Installation was a snap with Dragon automatically transferring my bookmarks and passwords. Only downsides I've found are that the NoSquint and YouTube downloader apps don't work in Dragon. There are some fairly easy workarounds so it is not a big deal.

It is essentially a Googlefree copy of Chrome. Chrome was an OK browser when I tested it last year but I try to minimize Googlesplooge on my computers.

Download it here:

The BW article had a link to a chart of the top 50 fast food restaurants, ranked by sales. McD was #1 but it surprised me that Subway was #2 and Starbucks #3.

The list also includes # of stores, revenue per store and other data

Why did Chick Fil A cross the road?

To come to Madison. West Towne Mall, to be precise.

Good on them. I guess there are a lot of "fat, racist, homophobic inbreds." (Quoting Wack-Wack) who like grease in Madison.

I am sure they did their market research. Perhaps Madison will turn out to be a big market for them. I doubt they plan to put a single store. Sure are enough racists, it would seem. My observations in WI lead me to believe that the state has a collective fat problem.

Not sure about inbreds and homophobes. I would note that WI does permit first cousin marriage, at least in some circumstances.

A question occurs to me: How does Wack know about the Chick Fil A grease? Is Chick Fil A her secret shame? Does she make weekend pilgimages to restaurants in other states? Does that make her a fat, racist, homophobic, inbred?

You are among friends here. You can tell us, Wack.

I went to Chick-Fil-A once, in Kenosha. I don't know if it's still there, but considering the fat racist homophobic inbreed quotient in that part of the state, I don't doubt it.

Chick-Fil-A has two years MAX in Madison. You read it here first, mark it.

Krispy Kreme did market research, too.

In any case, no one on this board will eat at Chick-Fil-A. We only eat BBQ, as far as I can tell. And fancy grilled cheese sandwiches.

Do you mean Racine. I don't ever remember there being one in Kenosha growing up.

We used to go to the one at Regency Mall in Racine. I did like it, but I was 16 and like any fast food place, It would probably suck for me now.

I think it will last longer. Put it by the mall and the kids will eat that shit up.

Hell, I may plan a road trip up to Madison, just to not eat at Chick-Fil-A.

"No one"?

Sounds like a pretty definite statement about 500 to 1,000 people on this board, most of whom you don't even know.

In any event, all it takes is one to falsify your statement.

I think I may have eaten in one once but am not even certain of that.

I will certainly have to try CFA if I find myself near one just to see what all the fuss is about.

I ate a CFA in TX, that meal transitted in about 1 hour. A repeat visit to any CFA is not in the cards.
