What's alarming is it's not very fiscally responsible. Ben Masel used to sue over issues like this, and never lost (I can't find an instance of him losing, can you?). That's how he made his living and financed his activism, by suing over First Amendment violations and winning.

A guy was cited at work at the UW the other day by a Cap cop and a UW cop. Always good for the workplace to have police rolling up. "What're you up to, Jim. Dealing weed? Running numbers? Hosting a fight club?"

Nope. Holding a sign at the Capitol.

Meaning, we don't want arrest videos ending up on YouTube and the news.

I'm with Steve Vokers. "They think it will generate less bad publicity. They are wrong."

Do you think Cap Police care about ending up on YouTube? For nearly 2 year, Cap police officers have been posted on YouTube and blogs hundreds of time!!! They should have agents!

BINGO.

Erwin, the palace guard following his orders and the DOA/Walker administration that put this power-crazed jerk in power should all be ashamed. But if the last couple years have taught us anything, it's that they have absolutely no shame.

What does that have to do with the topic at hand?

I ordering in 73 of these to be distributed amongst Republican legislators.

I know that in these times of upheaval, terrorism, chaos and actual singing, we need to provide things like panic buttons to make them feel like their little world is not coming to an end.

From this article on the Progressive's website:

Bill Dixon, longtime Madison lawyer and former campaign manager for Gary Hart’s presidential run in1984, attended the rally, as well. Dixon was holding a sign that said, “Protecting Our Constitution.” When asked why he was there, he said: “It’s obligatory. I took an oath forty years ago as a lawyer to protect the Constitution. It’s as simple as that.”

I wonder how many attorneys will follow suit (pun intended).

DOUBLE BINGO

Because the confrontational way they issue citations at the Capitol has caused massive disorder. These clowns and Paul Ryan went to the same place to learn about public speaking.

I see that two local police unions agree with Walter.

The Madison Professional Police Officers Association and the Dane County Deputy Sheriff's Association Tuesday issued a strongly worded statement condemning recent police actions aimed at Capitol protesters.

"We are asking the the Department of Administration , the leadership of the Capitol Police, and the Governor's Office to respect the core values and freedoms upon which this great state and nation were founded, and cease their infringement upon these freedoms," a joint statement from the unions reads.

Who would dare to say that without being part of a union?

A great example of why unions are important -- and not just for protecting pensions.

Who would dare say what without a union? I'm without a union and I say many things all of the time.

Erwin sounded like a real tool (a term I think he used about 100 times) this morning on Joy Cardin's show.

Yes. I found it incredibly weaselly. You know, because of some anecdotal allegations about people feeling intimidated by protesters once upon a sometime in the Capitol (why, someone once hollered and made a little girl cry!), therefore we must arrest people for holding banners over balconies and singing without a permit! Oh, the humanity!

If they were actually arresting/citing individuals for specific acts of "terrorizing" (for Erwin's lack of a better term) other individuals in the Capitol, we'd have no problem here. But selectively targeting and intimidating citizen-lobbyists for non-violent acts of dissenting speech -- as the Cap Times said this morning, the Constitution has been assaulted.
