Gotham - Breakfast Sandwich??

Where are you eating and what do you think? What's opening, closing, succeeding, failing?

Gotham - Breakfast Sandwich??

Postby bertgwen » Thu Aug 09, 2012 8:27 am

With the closing of the Park Street Gotham I am once again in search of a new breakfast sandwich. Any thoughts? Easy in/out w/ parking is a big bonus.

I hit up 4&20 and have tried both of there offerings recently. Good, but I'm not convinced a bicsuit is the correct vehicle for a sandwich.

As an aside, anyone have any info on the new place at the old Gotham location (beyond what's been in the paper)?

Bagels Forever - rye, swiss and bacon plus a soda for $ 2.90 Sometimes, rye, american and sausage, but don't stop if there are more than 4 cars in the lot. Granted it's not Gotham, but it suits me just fine.

You may have the location of the original Gotham confused with something else; Gotham on Mifflin -- the original location -- remains open and unchanged.

Or by "old" do you mean "former"?

On-topic: If you're losing Gotham on Park and considering 4 & 20, then clearly you aren't framing your hunt on a commuter route. The entire city is at your disposal. In that case, consider the classic breakfast sandwich at Mermaid, or the sandwich at Heritage Bakery and Cafe on Cottage Grove Rd. Crema Cafe has a very fine breakfast sandwich, but with all the construction on Monona, "easy in/out" is easier said than done.

Gotham's replacement on Park Street didn't last long.

If location isn't an issue, why don't you just go to the Gotham on E. Main St. off of the square? I think there is even parking right on that block.

Isn't Gotham on E. Mifflin across from the YWCA?

I have a religious appreciation for the breakfast sandwich at the Marigold Kitchen. (I get mine sans bacon, though I'm sure it adds a certain fatty something if bacon is up your alley.)

I didn't even get in to what I like to have on the side.

I love the Smoky Treat down at Lakeview Deli at Wilson & John Nolen. It's a giant sammich on pumpernickel (which I usually sub out for sourdough) with bacon, tomatoes, egg and this yummy smokey sauce. It's big enough for two people and it's around $4.

You are correct! I apologize for my error. So many spots Downtown and so many streets in the same area even a veteran of the area can get mixed up from time to time.

Also worth considering: The loaded breakfast sandwich at Graze.
