Well, WISC's article includes the claim that:
the cost was not covered by taxpayer dollars. The money, Diehl said, was taken from a pot of tourism-driven funds.
However, The Milw JS says:
Five-hundred gallons of dye bought with nearly $30,000 in taxpayers' money
A WI State Journal editorial now says:
The dye, courtesy of Aquatic Engineering of La Crosse, went into the 267-acre lake on July 12, at a cost to the village of just under $30,000.
So, it appears that the residents requested this expenditure. And there's money for round two.
What do you think? If this has no direct environmental impacts (positive or negative), is it a good idea?
