Busking for Books, April 21 on State Street

Postby litnet » Wed Mar 28, 2012 9:13 am

On April 21, local musicians will busk in 27 locations along State Street to raise funds for Literacy Network, a non-profit grassroots organization that serves more than 1,200 adults and families each year, helping them learn to read, write and speak English. Busking for Books is about raising awareness and funds for those in need, while highlighting Madison's rich musical culture.

This is a great opportunity for musicians to contribute to improving lives of people in our community in a simple and meaningful way! Musicians will have the chance to sign up for locations on a first-come, first-serve basis. (Acoustic performances only; no amplified sound is allowed due to city rules.)

A volunteer will be assigned to each musician - the volunteer will be responsible for sharing information about Busking for Books and Literacy Network.

If you are interested in BUSKING please share information about your group at: http://bit.ly/buskingforbooks

If you are interested in VOLUNTEERING please contact Shawn at shawn@litnetwork.org or 244-3911.

Thanks for your support -- this is going to be a lot of fun!
