? best place to (try to) sell used books ?

What books, zines or other pulp are you reading? What aren't you reading? What should everyone else read?

? best place to (try to) sell used books ?

Postby Big_Sister » Mon Feb 07, 2011 6:25 pm

I apologize if the precise topic is inappropriate, but my S.O. and I are having trouble getting enough feedback from our own grapevines.

It's (past) time for us to unload, ie, try to sell, some books, and we're wondering who has any opinions to share about the local options of Frugal Muse and Half Price Books.

Any perspectives on which pays more and/or which is interested in, broadly, what kind of material (eg, classic fiction, relatively contemporary bestsellers, etc) would be appreciated.

For perspective and advice, have a look at this site in Ann Arbor:

Around here, in addition to the used bookshops, there are some video rental stores that have a pretty good selection of used books (they buy used DVDs and books). Another thing you might want to try are online places where students sell textbooks (BooksIntoCash.Com) or even some book buying comparison websites like Dealoz.com that will compare a number of online buyback prices on books -- you mentioned you had some bestsellers, some fiction, but I guess it all depends on exactly what books you have. You could also do an internet search for "used book buyers" in your area (e.g. Madison, etc.).
