3 weekly shows you absolutely have to watch

How can cultural elitists like ourselves put TV in the Culture category? Well, where the hell else is it going to fit?

Pawn Stars. I'm a fan of Chumlee.

To a lesser extent, American Pickers.

I'm not sure about American Restoration.

I wish that Reno 911 wasn't cancelled.

(Everything above is only semi-facecious. More like guilty pleasures.)

But seriously, these are the weekly shows we've enjoyed in our broadcast-only house this past season, favorites first.

The Good Wife
Blue Bloods
Parenthood
Hellcats (R.I.P.)
The Big Bang Theory
Glee

I watch "Masterpiece" on PBS whenever possible. Also a lot of golf.

Pawn Stars ... have you seen the one where they send Chumlee to get the Bob Dylan record autographed by Bob Dylan? (and he signs it something like "TO CHUMLEE, ALL THE BEST, BOB DYLAN."

American Pickers ... seen the one with the giant white-bearded hippie in Wisconsin who collects doors?

For all of you with Netflix On Demand, may I recommend the following British comedies:
The IT Crowd - IT department in a big company. Has actors from the Mighty Boosh and Garth Marenghi's Dark Place. One of the mains is the cop from Bridesmaids.
Saxondale - A former roadie for legendary bands becomes a pest control specialist. Always tries to stay cool, but can't party like the old days. Drives a sweet car. Clashes with the local neighborhood council. Funnier than it sounds.
Pulling - Four women and their drinking and romantic exploits. Has some very interesting characters.
That Mitchell and Webb Look - Sketch comedy, features one of the actors in Little Britain. Worth it for the "Sir Digby Chicken Caesar" bits alone.
Monday Monday - Kind of like The Office, but takes place in the corporate office of a grocery store chain. Netflix calls it a "dramedy" so there you go.

Well that's five, but I love Netflix and can't choose.

Prof. Wagstaff wrote:Does this stand on its own or do I need to know the Dr. Whos from which it was spun-off? Cuz me and Dr. Who never really hit it off.

Stands on it's own just fine. I'm not sure you'd even know it was DW related if you didn't know that going in.

I liked it better then any DW.

I assume you've seen Trailer Park Boys...

You should never assume! It's been sitting in my Netflix queue for a while. Will definitely check it out sooner rather than later. Thanks for the other suggestions too!

It's on Netflix streaming. Or if you don't have that I can loan you the DVDs.

As mentioned above Pulling and Mitchell & Webb get thumbs up form me. I haven't seen Monday Monday yet but it's waiting.

The only show I watch every week is 30 Rock, and the quality dipped a bit this spring.

Chelsea Handler's weekly mocumentary "After Lately" is funny like "Curb Your Enthusiasm"

My three:
Parks & Recreation
Justified
Archer

Community was my #3 last year but Archer has been straight up nailing it this season.

The only show that usually fits in my schedule that I make a point to watch weekly is Community.

Although I'm cable-less, I watch new episodes of The Venture Brothers online when they debut. It sucks though, as they take 2 years to come out with a new season, even though it's always worth the wait.

I dig Archer, but haven't seen anything from Season 2 yet. I'll have to check it out.

I tired of Community this season and 30 Rock as well. Parks and Rec has been hitting out of the park though.

Yes, really.

Snark coming from someone who likes Big Bang Theory? Meh.
