Local Love Fest

Postby droidsattack » Thu Dec 09, 2010 10:49 pm

Hey, all.

I took the liberty of booking two nights at The High Noon Saloon and The Frequency on the weekend before Valentine's Day (Feb 11th, & 12th respectively) to throw an event intended to honor all of the local bands - past and present - that have worked so hard and kept things buzzing in this town over the years. It's not intended to be a be-all-end-all "best Madison bands of all time" showcase or some sort of elitist scenester clique get together, so please don't go there. I just want to party with you guys. I'm calling it Local Love Fest, and here's how it's going to go down:

1- Eight local bands (TBA) will perform. Four each night.

2- All of the bands will perform sets containing covers of their favorite local songs.

3- We're hoping to get two retired local bands to reunite and play some of our old favorites (this is proving to be kind of a tall order, so we'll see).

4- We're putting together a limited run EVENT ONLY compilation CD of local bands covering other local bands and we'll be handing them out with every paid admission to the show.

I am looking for bands interested in participating in the compilation, so if your band wants to submit a cover of one of your favorite local songs shoot me an email: droidsattack at aol dot com. I'd like to get everyone who wants to participate in on it, so hit me up. Any questions or concerns, please post them here.

Thanks!

Brad

Wow! Major dig- liking this a lot.

This seems like a lot of work, mad love to you my friend for featuring local music- both past and present. I hope Madison is kind to you and I'll be sure to mention this event to all our local peeps, I'll do all I can to get the word out.

peace,
Aaron

Cool, guys. Thanks!

Here is a list of bands who have contacted me and confirmed a spot on the compilation along with their choice of artist to cover so far:

Midwest Beat - The Hussy
Subatomic - (Undecided)
Stephanie Rearick - (Undecided)
Mad Trucker Gone Mad - Lorenzo's Music
Marty Finkel - American Death
Sinking Suns - Killdozer
Venus In Furs - (Undecided)
Zebras - Transformer Lootbag or Xerobot
Droids Attack - Cuda

This list is tentative and subject to change, but I just wanted to give people an idea of what is in the works. There are several more who have been in touch but have not confirmed a spot as of yet, so if you are not on this list get back in touch with me as soon as you can. I am making a rule that no two bands can cover the same artist on this thing, so if the band you were thinking of doing is already on this list then please think of another one. I'm also making a rule that your current band cannot cover a band that you or any member of your band used to be in, because that is kind of lame.

On this tip--anyone have any old Xerobot recordings that they could hook us Zebras up with? Get at me: hotshotrobot at gmail.
