Where to go for drinks?

Postby wentlerhm » Sat Nov 27, 2010 4:30 pm

Some friends and I are going out for drinks tonight in Madison and we're wondering where are the best places to go? We don't want to go to a bar where it's going to be rowdy/drunken stupid people-especially not interested in a downtown bar since the Badgers are in town (and most likely going to win today so kids will be crazy). We are just looking for somewhere where we can sit and have good drinks, and be able to talk to each other without screaming over other people.

Opus Lounge on King Street. If you're able to nab a booth it is very comfortable and 'not have to shout to talk' loud. The Opus has intimate lighting, comfortable booths, a tapas menu and an awesome drink menu. I have entertained both east & west coast clients there and everyone has always enjoyed the place.

Ale Asylum on N. Stoughton Rd. Great beer, no TV's. Malt House, on the corner of E. Washington and Milwaukee St. Great beer selection, also no TV's.

I'm late, The Magnus on East Wilson is also quiet. With regards to the closing etc., I am enjoying it even more.
