When Univ Ave construction is done

Postby kissyfish » Fri Sep 17, 2010 10:08 am

I will rejoice in the quiet, and luxuriate on the smoothness of the road.

I will rejoice all the way to the REAL most dangerous intersection in Madison, which is the Borders/Copps/Walgreens bermuda triangle of traffic, where noone signals, people suddenly emerge in your path without looking, and then all the bikes ignore the stopsign at the back of the lot.

I used to live near the Hanger-Lane-Gyratory in London, and it was easier and safer to navigate.

I am also pretty excited for the day (and who really knows when it might be) when they're done w/ that construction. That being said, if you're a pedestrian that intersection does suck, but I don't think as a driver that it's as bad as some other more awkward spots in Madison. It's certainly not great, but most people do a solid job of following the traffic lights.

Methinks kissy is actually referring to the intersection "inland" by the entrance to those parking lots, which is a total, complete clusterfuck and not where the light is at University, am I right?

I can't take much more of this! and I am starting to worry that if it gets too cold before they have laid the road completely it won't set up nicely and become compromised during the winter.

Also, noone appears to be able to stay within their lanes through all of the curviness.

Also, "no one" is two words. While we're at it, "all right" is two words as well, "starting from ground zero" is probably a bad idea, "thinking out of the box" is no improvement, it takes three tanna leaves to revive the Mummy, you can get out of WordStar quickly by typing ctrl-K + ctrl-X, and Blaska is an idiot.

Let me add that "a lot" is also two words.

Very true. But "alright" is only one word. And a perfectly cromulent one at that.

Yeah, I do think that at their current rate of non-production, they will be dang lucky to get done before winter. I'm mostly resigned to it and one day, when I can get to the downtown area (or Steve's Liquor) without a 10-minute waiting period at University and Midvale, I am going to light this town ON FIRE.

The Marquette Interchange in Milwaukee, the largest construction project in state history, was completely remade under budget and several weeks earlier than expected.

Perhaps we should have hired THAT contractor.

I rode through this construction area this last Tuesday at 8 am. The only delay was at the Midvale intersection, which took 3 light changes to proceed to the east. No biggie. It helps that I wasn't in a hurry and was listening to some good tunes.

Man, the delays are starting to burrow into drivers' heads. I walked around the Midvale/University intersection the other night and drivers were losing their minds with frustration. I saw a couple complete meltdowns. It pleased me in a weird way as I walked to my destination.

Perhaps if traffic sucked that bad all the time we'd put some tax dollars into solutions beyond more roads and more cars (more warming, more wars).
