Music at The Pub

Postby spinseuss » Wed Jan 06, 2010 10:49 am

Is The Pub on State St. still booking music?

Anyone played there and have an opinion on playing there?

If it's a decent place to play, anyone know how to contact them for booking?

Good question. I heard last nite at band practice it has new owners (again). Gotta be an improvement over the last people in charge who were in trouble for having live music without proper permits and severly pissing off local music supporter Rick Tvedt (MAMAs, LocalSoundsMagazine).

If no one else offers any info, might be easiest just to call or stop down there and ask. I know the former owners did do a lot of remodeling to accomodate for bands (i.e. building a stage, etc.). So it that still exists I would hope live music is in the new business plan.

Please report back with any details.

Stumbled in there randomly a month or so back and was treated to one of the more eclectic cover bands I've seen. RHCP>Johnny Cash>RatM>Tom Petty all with an emo-ish fratty vibe. That said, I don't know shit about their booking policies. Guess this wasn't particularly helpful. Oh well.

A friend of mine has been bartending there for years now. I'd also say going in there is your best bet; just be aware they have zero sound (from what I've gathered you can't patch into the house), and are rapidly falling in with a convenient/blah Top40/Hip Hop/Pop DJ routine.

I often DJ next door, and the little window (the old Saz) that connects the two has become our virtual fish tank to observe. That said, I'm rarely tempted to put my hand in the water.

They have a reggae band scheduled for a Bob Marley B-day party Feb 5th. ... Collective
Roots Collective.
I don't know if they have any other bands scheduled though...
