This is the best restaurant in Madison, as far as quality of food vs. price.

Had the pho for lunch the other day.

Serious depth of flavor. Savory, hot, lovely beef...I've had pho in other Madison restaurants, and never saw what the big deal was ("THIS is the 'national dish' of Vietnam?") A while ago, I had it in a Vietnamese community in London, and was blown away.

Ha Long Bay's pho is about as good as that.

And only $6.95.

I have a new favorite soup in Madison.

We went last week...service a bit slow, but then we got there a bit earlyish for dinner. They're also going to have to do something about the arctic blasts every time the door opens...and we were in the middle of the restaurant.

The food however was to die for.

Seriously, seriously perfectly cooked and sauced asparagus, chicken, and shrimp in my dish (I forget the name of it now)...I have never had such succulent perfectly done shrimp. Asparagus is so easily over- or undercooked...this was absolutely perfect. It's definitely our new Thai place. Also, the owner brought over complimentary crab rangoons.

Been a few times now. I agree that the food is good to great and the service is a bit slow.

Best part: American size portions.
