Does anyone drink Berghoff Beer? Are they even still around?

I know Minhas bought the brewery in Monroe and I think Berghoff is still brewed/bottled there, but the Berghoff website has been "under construction" for over two years as far as I can tell. The Minhas website gives me no info either.

I don't drink Berghof and never have liked it. The only people I know who ever bought it are:
1. People who don't drink beer, but pick up some Berghof when entertaining, probably because it's cheap
2. People who will buy anything if it's made in Wisconsin simply because it's made in Wisconsin-- and then tell themselves it's tasty.

Even people who seek it out because of the restaurant in Chicago (or what's left of it) seem to fall into the above categories.

Beer Advocate seems to think it is still around. They rate it as mediocre.

Yeah, Berghoff is a completely "meh" kind of beer. It's not awful but it's not good either.

How about this though - does anyone else think that Sam Adams beer is for suckers? Is it just me?

Yeah, Berghoff's still around and still brewed in Monroe. Minhas bought the brewery, but I thought General Beverage owned the rights to the Berghoff beers, which is why Minhas rolled out Lazy Mutt and Swiss Amber.

I wouldn't call their beers mediocre, I'd say average because I'm polite like that. I do know that they rolled out new label designs and changed some of the names within the past year, because I've seen them at various stores in the area. I don't think I've tried any lately, but I'll have a Berghoff whenever I'm down at Baumgartner's. I like the Berghoff Dark myself, but I have favorable memories of the Original Lager. It used to be on tap at Amy's, and my last year I used to stop in after class for a late lunch and a glass or three - I always thought it tasted much better on tap. They also used to have a Winter Hazelnut seasonal that I really liked a lot, but I think that was discontinued years ago.

I might pick up a sixer tonight, now that I'm thinking about 'em.
