As of a couple weeks ago the G1 is fully operational in Madison. Other than learning to manage the major drain all my uses place on the battery I am really loving it. To handle the battery issue I use a little rechargeable battery backup for when I want to sit and play with it for hours and when I just need it to stay live for phone calls I turn off the radios. It's not as easy as an iPhone but I think it's more versatile. I'd recommend it to those who like to tinker with their techno toys but not yet for those who just want something to be easy straight out of the box.

I was not aware T Mobile had 3G coverage in Madison. Or Wisconsin, for that matter.

Do you know what service you're piggy-backing on? Is it 3G?

Did you have to get a new phone number, because T-Mobile offices in Milwaukee don't use the same area code?

The next version looks pretty cool, and there were some really cool Android devices at MWC, so I'm really hoping Verizon or some other carrier with good data and voice coverage around here releases one soon. Some had H209 dates, but I'd like to see some local carrier announcements...

My understanding was that T-Mobile had contracted with Einstein to provide coverage in the Madison and Fox Valley area. Could be wrong.
