Some of you might like seeing Old Indy, Old Rocky, Old John McClane... But Harold Ramis was never an action hero, and looks far from fit these days.

Keeping it as a game keeps it in the early 90s and keeps the characters and their actions believable.

Ghostbusters 2 was never held in very high-regard, so that bubble has already burst. And like you said it's been 25 years - I don't really see the presentation of a G3 film having anything to lose.

I feel pretty much the same for the green-lit 2009 Pee-Wee Herman Movie - nothing to lose.
Go Pee-Wee!

Ugh. Get ready for a even worse repeat of the cartoon naming rights schism of the mid-80's. I predict that none of the original 'Busters will want to participate in the movie.

In the time since this thread was started, publisher Vivendi was purchased by Activision, who then dropped the game. It had no home for almost 3 months, but is now planned for next summer for the 25th anniversary of the original movie. Atari also picked up the long in the tooth sequel to Chronicle of Riddick, which also doesn't deserve to be a movie but will be a blast as a game.

That Lost Boys remake on TNT the other night was the bomb.

Here is the pre-title scene, complete with music and voices. This is such a day one purchase, even if the game part ends up being bad, I'll enjoy it for the atmosphere and writing.

Hey now, you scoffed when I said I was going to purchase Aliens: Colonial Marines before even looking at the reviews!

The last time I heard someone say that, he was short $60 and holding a copy of the last Sonic The Hedgehog on Xbox 360.

Unfortunately for me, it looks like Aliens: Colonial Marines has been delayed until 2010 or later (it was first announced in 2006!). It's never a good thing in the game industry when you don't get any new info or photos from a game in development for over a year. Either the game is in development hell or they just haven't officially announced it's cancellation yet.

As for Ghostbusters 3, I'll be looking forward to it, but I'll wait for positive reviews.

Thats fair, though for give me if I have slightly more faith in Ramis and Aykroyd than I do in Aliens and Gearbox.

Heard back around xmas that Gearbox got rid of a bunch of people. Don't remember hearing if the Aliens game was affected or not.

Game in hand, only about 20 minutes of play time, but the atmosphere, graphics and control for the tutorial trapping all work like you'd expect.

critical reviews seem to be hovering around a B, which sounds about right. If it can keep this up for another 8 hours I'll be very satisfied.
