I haven't either, but it's literally in the mail to me as I type this. Hooray, new Borgnine!

I haven't seen Willard since I was a kid. I don't remember liking it. Is it really worth a re-visit?

I think this needs to be remedied --- and quickly, hence this thread.

Well, there used to be a whole exchange between Genie and myself regarding Ernest Borgnine - but it seems to have fallen into the open grave of obsolete posts.

So - don't blame me if this is a Borgnine-deficient website; I did my bit.

Nobody has yet mentioned his best role.
McHale's Navy beats 'em all.
I mean really.

Tough call between Ice Station Zebra and Flight of the Phoenix. I think I have to choose the latter because Borgnine's character name in that one is Trucker Cobb.

Here he is in Bad Day At Black Rock, first at his threatening best and then getting his ass whipped by a one-armed Spencer Tracy. Good stuff. Maybe we should start a Robert Ryan thread, too...

Hey, Center Square --
Did you know that, according to imdb.com's trivia section, Ernest Borgnine was the original center square on Hollywood Squares?

I had NO idea.
None.
Whatsoever.
At all.

I'm going to need time to digest this.

This is either the most amazing Borgnine find ever in my book or a sign that I need to....

I need to digest this.

I DO have to say THANK YOU though.
Wow.
Egads.
I'm speechless.

must. reflect. on. this. now.

Oooh, is it Stella Dallas? We watched that in the same class as the Johnny Guitar. She made be old and dead now, but Ms Stanwyck was pretty damn hot.
