Bar Next Door

Postby Bellwether » Tue Sep 11, 2007 4:12 pm

Been searching the archives looking for any mention, but wasn't successful ("must match all words" still returned too many hits on bars next door to something or other).

Bar Next Door (next to Coliseum Bar): Thumbs up or thumbs down? Drinks? Food? both? thoughts?

I dug it the one time I was there (on a booze cruise). Fireplace, plenty of space. With a little luck you'll see the same couple wearing matching Marlborl Miles jackets that I saw.

Been there for lots of happy hours. Very friendly staff. Pool table in back and Golden Tee in alcove. Fireplace awesome in winter. Great fried cheese curds. Very small.

Beware of patio - purple bird poop ruined my shirt.

They have root beer in bottles.

I sorta remember a news story about the place. Was a speakeasy/mob hangout back in the day. Even rumors of Capone.

They have pretty good burgers!

While you're there, be sure to poke fun at the EDS employees that go there after work from next door

That's what so sucky sad about it now.
Because a beer can be a beer can be a beer so a bar is a bar...all bars really have got that's distinguishing is thier "vibe" or gimmick.
The Bar used to be the "secret hideout" behind Jingles and had a really dangerous looking thug armed with a gun "sneaking" around on the roof.
It was stimulating and bizarre and a little disturbing---which is what made it cool but what probably got it torn down, ala the big dead bug sign on E Wash.
So now it's just a bar that it next door.

I used to be a regular there. Burgers are good, beer is reasonably priced, the staff is nice. It's either packed to the gills or completely empty. Doesn't seem to be any in between with that place. Worth checking out.
