Dumb events - fireworks

Postby smokin' the dummy » Fri Jul 20, 2007 9:51 pm

Fireworks: Unless you have opted to attend said event, this public display is annoying as hell to listen to from near or far.

Thanks for answering my question. Fireworks or gunfight?

Where/what was it?

From what I can gather, multiple places. I saw / heard / felt them near the overture center, and a friend of mine heard more near regent & midvale.

Some one without a permit. Isn't that how the $300,000 fire at Pinkus McBride started? (drunks,BBQ's and fireworks?) The cops said they could hear it from their station! Kids here thought it was real funny. Not so funny if it's your roof burning or exercizing your right to a good night's sleep.

I'm assuming its from the Dane County Fair. There aren't any other festivals going on, as far as I know. Maybe there and the Mallards game?

I think it was at the Monona Terrace. Saw them when I walked out of work. 10 years and I have never once been inside that place.

I'm near B(r)oom and Doty.
At first I just thought the guy in the apt above me had just arrived home. (SEE: Rhino Boy thread)
But the explosions eventually knocked my ceramic Persian Buddha off the TV.
Damn Taliban.
It only lasted around 23 minutes.
But that climax!
Boom badda boom boom boom!

It was Monona Terrace's 10th anniversary. I watched the fireworks from the High Noon Saloon patio. I thought it was a nice display. It doesn't seem like they did a very good job of promoting the event, though.

I enjoyed the post-fireworks display symphony of car alarms.

IIRC, the did the same thing with the fireworks at the grand opening of said center. Didn't want the hoi polloi there, what with their pick em ups, gun racks, and whatnot.
