Why, the Shamrock will, of course, have plenty of cornbeef and cabbage this weekend.

The corned beef and cabbage at brocach is ridiculously good. Even the cabbage tastes good, and it's freakin' cabbage! Not sure when they are serving it, I'm going to have to call and find out. It's only on special occasions, unfortunately!

Boycott Brocach, they're the only bar on the square that will not contribute to the parade fund because they're "going to get all the business anyway"...fuck them.

That sucks. I remember the Gennanites telling me that last year.

Dang.

How much is the corned beef and cabbge at the 'Rock? I don't care, but me Mum grew up poor and she's treating. I remember her crying once when the bill came for dinner for the two of us at a very nice restaurant, and it was $40. It was years ago, but still.

Haven't had this since I was a kid and my mom stunk up the house with it every year for unknown reasons...we weren't Irish, and she was the only one who liked it...

Nick's has corned beef and cabbage sometimes and I'm guessing they'll do it up for Patty's Day. It's not my type of dish, but last time I was at Nick's my dinner companions raved about it.

That is lame on their part. I thought the owners were from Chicago, they outta know about having a fun St Patrick's Day. FIBs!

I just want to footnote that I was told by others as well, so I don't have first hand knowledge of this, in case it isn't so.

From the Shamrock website:

Join Us @ The Shamrock Open at 8 am - Saturday March 17th, 2007
$4.00 Jameson Cocktails
Corn Beef, Cabbage and fixings $7.50
Reuben Sandwich and Fries $6.00

I'm still on bartending sabbatical so I will not be working Saturday, but I will be participating in the eating of the cornbeef on the customer side of the bar.

I'm sure that Irish Waters will have it. In fact, most places around town will be having it 'cause as someone else posted - "Everyone's Irish on St. Paddy's Day"! :D

I hope the people who are eating all this have a good supply of Beano handy. Or else have the courtesy to stay out of public places for a day or so afterwards.

If you are in Middleton, the Village Green is the supposed place to be on St. Patty's. They slow cook their corned beef for a few days prior.
