500K MI

Postby bluethedog » Wed Mar 14, 2007 12:14 pm

On the way out to Verona yesterday I got behind a Ford pickup with this license plate. 500,000 miles anywhere is impressive, moreso in Wisconsin.

Is anyone's current vehicle even close to that? Anyone even at 200K? I'm at 80K with my 2000 Elantra and can't imagine ever getting past 150.

I'm at about 225k with my '95 Corolla and it shows no signs of quitting any time soon.

People who use their vehicles for work, e.g. sales reps who drive a somewhat regular route, can put 200,000-plus miles on a reasonably well-maintained vehicle with no problem.

There was that million-mile Saab guy in Cedarburg. After the story broke, Saab gave him a free new Saab, for letting them use his story in their advertising.

I had 220K on a 79 Toyota Corolla Wagon when it stopped being functional. The engine was fine, yet the driver's seat fell through the floor board.

I miss you Silver Screacher.
