I enjoyed his game shows. What do you think? Was he a CIA assassin? Putin and Trump could use a man like him now.

'Gong Show' creator Chuck Barris dies at 87

"As "The Gong Show" and Barris' other series were slipping, he sold his company for a reported $100 million in 1980 and decided to go into films. He directed and starred in "The Gong Show Movie," a thundering failure that stayed in theaters only a week. Afterward, a distraught Barris checked into a New York hotel and wrote his autobiography, "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind," in two months. In it, he claimed to have been a CIA assassin.

The book (and the 2002 film based on it, directed by George Clooney) were widely dismissed by disbelievers who said the creator of some of television's most lowbrow game shows had allowed his imagination to run wild when he claimed to have spent his spare time traveling the world, quietly rubbing out enemies of the United States.

"It sounds like he has been standing too close to the gong all those years," quipped CIA spokesman Tom Crispell. "Chuck Barris has never been employed by the CIA and the allegation that he was a hired assassin is absurd," Crispell added. Barris, who offered no corroboration of his claims, was unmoved."

Chuck Berry and Chuck Barris die in the same week.

What are the odds?

100%, since it happened.

I will see him tonight and pass along your concern.

And anyone else interested in seeing for themselves can come see The Low Czars when we perform next Wednesday, the 29th at the High Noon Saloon! (<---- that's some shameless self-promotion right there)

One of the other Low Czars pointed out that even more specific than just being a Chuck, it's been a rough week for Chuck's with two rs in their last name and then mused, "Anyone talked to Chuck Norris? He's 77 fer chrissakes..."

No, but it's the place you'll most likely find us, although we have no idea if that will continue under the new management. We also play actual late shows at Mickey's on occasion and pretty much anywhere if you wanna book us.
We're playing HNS again on Sunday, April 9th with a couple other bands for a Planned Parenthood benefit.

Looking much further out, we'll be playing The Orton Park Festival on 8/27.
No idea of the schedule for that yet but I'm kinda assuming we'll be playing early.

I wasn't able to make it April 9 to see the band. How can I stay abreast of upcoming shows? Is there an email list?
