National Lampoons Vacation (5?)

Postby crevice beatle » Mon Jul 21, 2008 1:15 pm

I was flipping through my stolen cable channels the other day and caught 5 minutes of European Vacation.

I got to thinking:

The original National Lampoons Vacation is a classic. European Vacation sucked hard and was a let down. Christmas Vacation was a resurgence and is definatley a Christmas time classic in its own right. Vegas Vacation was a complete piece of crap.

If I am detecting a pattern here and have indeed cracked the Vacation movie code, now is the time for a new installment that will inevitibally kick ass and momentarily put Chevy Chase back on the map, if only for a short while.

thoughts?

Even the first one does not hold up well anymore though Randy Quaid's role as Eddie is timeless.

Chevy Chase is now old, crazy and not funny. Trust me, it hurts me as much as it hurts you...

I thought about putting up a fight on this one for about .2834 seconds...but naw, I think I stand corrected.
Had no idea there was already a straight to DVD 5th installment and I doubt I will even put it on the bottom (223rd) place of my netflix queue.
Nonetheless, the original will always bring back fond memories so in that sense it will always stand the test of time for me.

Wow, even though I started this thread, I'm not sure I'd put it in my top 10...even top 10 comedies - but I'm sure it would get ranked in my top 10 comdedies of the 80s.
