Ishtar! One of the biggest Hollywood flops of all time. Friggen funny as hell. I wonder if it will ever make it to the digital world.

I sit and wait to own a copy.

The Magnificent Ambersons (currently only region 2)

Song of the South (lots of buzz about this lately, but probably won't happen soon).

Satantango (Facets has had this listed as coming soon for a long time, but it still isn't out, only available region 2)

A great resource is the Masters of Cinema website:

You probably already know by now but Monster Squad came out on July 24th (2007) as a Two-Disc 20th Anniversary Edition.
Monster Squad on Amazon.

The Last Dinosaur Review at badmovies.org

Nevermind about The Last Dinosaur. The movie is so incredibly horrendous that it'd best just be forgotten about.

Not that I'm into this sort of thing, but while I was browsing imdb for info on HBO's Cathouse and Taxicab Confessions (I don't have HBO), imdb recommended two documentaries on Nevada's brothels which have never been released on DVD.

1983's "Chicken Ranch" directed by Nick Broomfield (Chicken Ranch is actually available on DVD in region 2, and region 0 from Kaleidoscope films out of Australia), and 1978's "Mustang: The House That Joe Built" directed by Robert Guralnick.

Sad that the best movie chronicling the hardcore scene of the early 80s is not available on DVD.

As much as I understand guilty pleasures, Monster Squad is a poor eighties movie. They were trying for some sort of Goonies vibe (with classic movie monsters), but it just didn't gel. And the monsters? Stan Winston dialed this one in. With the exception of maybe the mer-man all the monsters were Fubar.

I don't believe I ever saw this movie back in the day. I was about the age of the main characters (12) in 1987 when this movie was released and think I probably would've had to have been a number of years younger to have enjoyed it, had I seen it back then. Yet, the language may have made the movie inappropriate for those under 10.
PG-13 movies of the sort (starring or geared towards children) is something that's went by the wayside. Nowadays if something is geared towards kids it's a sanitized PG, and if it's not for kids it's an R rating.

Some of the insults and the overall language was pretty amusing though, and there definitely were some un-PC things that you couldn't get away with today.
For example;
The kids saying "homo", "faggot", and "butt-love".
The fat kid? Even his friends refer to him as "fat kid"! With friends like those...
"Feeb". Now that's an insult you don't hear much anymore. The little girl teaches Frankenstein to say the rad eighties catch-phrases "Gimme A Break" and "Bogus".
The Monsters plan on stopping the kids - by killing them!
Dracula forego's his supernatural abilities and blows up the kids tree/club house with a stick of dynamite.
Dracula lifts up the little girl and calls her a bitch!

My favorite Michael Dudikoff flick, 1986's Avenging Force has never been made available on region 1 DVD.
Nice score by George S. Clinton as well.
