Apple's Mail App vs. Exchange Server

Postby Daisy » Wed Jan 09, 2008 5:09 pm

I really like Apple's email application and its integration with the rest of the OS and other apps like iPhoto. But ever since our office switched from IMAP to an Exchange email system, I've been unable to configure the thing to process my work email and have had to used a web-based Outlook interface. Which sucks for a number of reasons.

do you have an IT department? call them. make them work.

if not, who sets up your exchange server?

it sounds like most problems with making work with exchange are fixed on the actual exchange server itself, and not an issue with

Entourage is supposed to be designed as a mac version of Outlook, which is an exchange client mail app. Its included in the mac version of microsoft office. thats probably your best bet.

Entourage sucks hard. One of the things it can't do is handle (very) large mailbox databases - so if you don't keep a lot of mail, no problem. If you keep years of mail, huge problem.

FWIW, Thunderbird works pretty well with Exchange Server. Not as much nice integration as Mail, but it works and there are lots of plugins available.
