Computer Repair

Postby trgini » Mon Jul 23, 2007 8:01 am

Can anyone recommend a good place to take my computer? My Hard Drive crashed and my data is in trouble. I took it to Computer Repair Pros on Monona Drive and they just ruined it. They returned my computer with one drive disconnected (which I had to reconnect myself) and they only gave me a handful of my data files. It as been a nightmare! Every day they said it would be ready and then they never called. I'm new to town. Any advice?

I've had no complaints about Madison Computer Works over on the west side.
Others I know have had good experiences as well.

Recovering data on a bad drive is 100% based on voodoo. It sometimes works, most times it doesn't.

There's a reason data recovery firms charge you hundreds to recover data. I would bet most local computer repair places will have inadequate tools to do the job.

Good luck.

Backups, backups, backups. Backups!

(I don't mean this as a personal scold, trgini. I've been there and feel your pain.)
