www.joost.com

Got my invite some time ago. Joost is streaming free television from the creators of Skype and Kazaa. They signed programming from Turner, Sony,CBS, Warner Brothers, etc. So far it works really well and is a perfect solution for those that don't want to pay for cable and find broadcast tv kind of shitty. You get programming from MTV, Comedy Central, AdultSwim, National Geographic..and soon..even showtime!

One of the most amusing channels so far is TV Arabia. Think of Mexican TV...on crack.

This is great for someone like me, who doesn't have cable.

You need a relatively modern pc with a 500MHZ cpu or better, 512M of ram, and 40MB or better video card. They recommend XP or Vista.

There is also a version for mac osx.

I saw a rumor there are unlimited invites for beta testers now - is that true?

I lost interest before they signed on the big names, but I managed to find some weird indy film about an advertising department called "The Suits" or something like that, which was actually quite entertaining and to my surprise, turned out to have a Steven Carell cameo.

Haven't looked back in a while but I did hear that they are now allowing invites to friends relatives etc of the beta testers, so I should log in and check my stuff.

I heard they have Adult Swim stuff. $$

Apparently, the videos are interrupted by advertising. Of course, it's free, so, that's expected.

Unlike the cable and Satellite, which you pay for, and then, STILL have to watch advertising!

Hey thanks, I received the invite, and plan on checking it out tonight. Maybe I'll quit my job and go home early so's I can watch tv on the computer. We'll see. Modern life is kinda silly sometimes.

Thanks, Beer Moon and no problems on the delay - you kept me from wasting more time in front of the monitor, after all!
