God Of War II - The PS2's Curtain Call

Postby MadMind » Tue Mar 13, 2007 6:42 pm

Gamespot Review

God of War II is out and highly rated across the board. It's great to see a high-quality title being released at the end of a console's lifespan.

Some may say that Zelda: Twilight Princess was the Gamecube's closeout title, but that release was more of a courtesy since it was released & marketed as a Wii launch title. If you took that away, the last previous big-name title for the cube was probably Metroid Prime II, released long before the cube was officially laid to rest.

As for the Xbox...were there any high-profile titles released near the end of the Xbox's lifespan?

Nope. Microsoft effectively put a bullet in the Xbox the moment they announced the 360's release date. The black and green brick's final months were mostly filled with forgettable, multiplatform pap and EA sports titles.

And for the record, God of War II rocks.

I'm still a bit irked that I couldn't get all the way through the first God of War on the hardest difficulty.
The near end where you have to fight hundreds of clones of yourself is near impossible on the hardest difficulty. I tried and tried but eventually I just gave up.

I wish this was coming out on Xbox 360. I guess I can just go and buy a PS2.
