Stebben, those photos of kids "smoking" are ... appalling. Which is obviously the point, I guess. Still, as a parent that link makes my skin crawl.

Just opened this month's National Geographic, and saw this photo. A flock (school? herd?) of tadpoles swimming through a forest of water lilies:

Reminds me of a painting in the Chazen's permanent collection, only this one is seven feet high:

Nice correlation Sno.

For me they are appalling and captivating. I don't have kids, but I have nieces and if I saw them doing this, I would be sickened. That said, art that tries to make a statement which is uncomfortable is often uncomfortable to see. I personally find this a successful piece of artwork. Since this is the photo thread, I don't want to leave without livening up the place.

Understood. I didn't mean that it wasn't interesting as art, just mentioning my reaction.

Trompe-l'œil. There used to be a great one in the permanent collect of the Elvehjem. Don't know if it is displayed in the Chazen.

Here is an interesting story about photos from the Gettysburg address. There are some cool interactive tools so click around the photos in the link.

Stebben84, that's cool.

For that third page, somebody put a lot of work into figuring out who's who. And I like the profile thing on the second page.
