Suggestions for Volunteering

Postby Twigz2011 » Tue Dec 06, 2011 4:45 pm

I found out that I have a half day of time remaining that is available to me from work to volunteer for a non-profit. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for any qualified groups or organizations that could use some assistance. I have until the end of the year to do this. I am aware of some things that are affiliated with the United Way but am interested in finding something that maybe doesn't get as much publicity or that I'm not already aware of so that I could get exposed to something new. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you for the suggestion. i watched the video to the end. I was not aware of this program. I can see how coaching or tutoring through this would be rewarding. With this post, however, I am seeking an opportunity to share my time with a local charity or arts organization.

I have volunteered for Literacy Network in the past and have found it wonderfully rewarding. Unfortunately, a job change has sucked up a lot of my time lately, but I hope to go back when I am able.

Thanks. I didn't think to look on Craigslist. I saw a couple of things on there that I wouldn't have come across otherwise.

Look into a program called "schools of hope".
