You know what I think....?

Postby narcoleptish » Mon Mar 09, 2009 11:47 pm

You know what I think?

I think the Peoples Bakery has some damn good donuts.

I think that guy who's ALWAYS chopping ice and clearing the gutters at the corner of Lafollette and Jackson st. with 4 to 8 inches of snot swinging from his nose should be given a big shiny snow removal award. Good job sir!

I think the name Liquor Baron makes me thirsty.

I think that even if something else did open, the Malt House would still be the best part of the Union Corners development.

I think I'm going to finish painting my basement floor blue. It's been half done for over a year.

I think I enjoy a random drink ("surprise me!") from Cedric at the Weary, a stuffed "The Great" pizza from La Rocca's on Willy, and listening to Nick Moran play bass in whatever group he's with that night.

I think the Barrymore is overdue for a major steam cleaning operation. I think it needs bigger bathrooms. But I think it's also my favorite medium-sized venue, despite the drawbacks.

I think we need a commuter rail system that extends to Middleton, Fitchburg, downtown, the airport (especially!) and Sun Prairie. I think the schedule needs to be regular, predictable, and affordable to the working joe. I think, if done right, it will be wildly successful, despite what the naysayers predict. I also strongly think that part of that depends on at least one last run out to the 'burbs past bar time.

I think this will turn into a long thread, and that I'll post more thoughts later.

But more than anything else, I think there is no other city in the Midwest I'd rather be a part of than Madison.

I think I have no idea what people on this board will respond to anymore. There was a time when an all purpose rant/rave thread like this would have been on page 3 by noon. But no, people are instead drawn to:

District 2 race- boring
Dude who lost all his books & posters- boringx2
Arguing with Ned- I still bet Ned's a retired Shorewood Hills lefty who just likes riling people up.
Jessica Simpson- really the bottom of the barrel here
Discussing why DPF traffic is down- ironic

Perhaps in time, this too shall pass.

Personally, I blame Henry Vilas

I think (actually, I know, but I'm working with a theme) that this is the first I've seen this thread today.

I think Twitter really is pretty awesome.

I think I'm hitting that point where writing is actually becoming a fulfilling challenge.

I think getting a potential Chicago job offer used to be exactly what I was looking for; now, not so much...

I think breakfast is the least important meal of the day.
I think Oregon is a town that needs to offer it's residents something to do on weekends besides going to the bar.
I think Ted Thompson is doing a fine job.
I think Facebookers should be careful how they go about inviting their friends to parties so as to not rub it in the facebooks of the uninvited.
I think Prez Obama has met and even surpassed my early expectations.

Now can someone please direct me to the Jessica Simpson thread?

I was pregnant when we went to see X and Tegan and Sara there last year. The bathrooms are so small I was afraid they were going to have to call in the jaws of life to remove me. They were great shows.

I think blunt can talk about drunk coeds teetering like giraffes and gets a friggin Peabody, but someone just wants to laugh about Madison being mentioned in Star Magazine and he's the bottom of the barrel. Nice.

I think the Red Sox will have a tough time making it to the ALCS this year, but I give 'em a fighting chance.

I think that the corned beef at L'Etoile tonight has a chance to change my general impression of corned beef.

I think that poker is most definitely a game of skill.

I think that the MGMT record is pretty fucking good.

I think that Culvers is the best fast food ever (yes, I've had In n' Out).

That was not meant personally. The madison mention was totally postworthy. It's what gets the most attention lately that I was bitching about, and 3 pages about her weight seems excessive to me, while other topics that I would think would get attention, wither and die. No big deal. Thanks for jump-starting this one.

Now would someone show Mr. Unknown the way to Ms. Simpson. (or he could just follow the crumbs)

Bueno.

I also think it's about time I fired up a new recipe, which will probably happen within the next week or so.

I think I should probably read something on how to make crème fraîche first.

I think people need to stop using the phrase (if you can even call it that) "It is what it is". What is IT exactly? Absolute stupidity?
