The Saddest Moment in the History of American Journalism

Postby Prof. Wagstaff » Thu Jul 26, 2007 10:59 am

After 28 years of providing the best exclusive news stories for impulse shoppers standing in long checkout lines, The Weekly World News will cease publication on August 27th.

Fear not - "The World's Only Reliable Newspaper" will remain online.

I would have said it was a tie between every day since November 7, 2000.

But this is pretty sad too.

Weekly World News is great, but I've never been able to sustain interest in it. I've found it to be good for a laugh once or twice a year. Anybody read it regularly? Subscribe?

Get used to it. Readership of 'hard copies' of all newspapers are dwindling, especially among those under the age of 40. Except for small niche newspapers, all other newspapers will be out of print and only available online.
