Octosquid

Postby Jesse Russell » Fri Jul 06, 2007 1:30 pm

This is neat - an Octosquid was discovered off the coast of Hawaii.

A curious creature that appears to be half octopus, half squid was found in waters at Keahole Point in Hawaii and remains unidentified today. Local biologists think that it could possibly be a new species.

Personally I would have called it a Squidopus.

It's certainly neat, but it just looks like a squid to me (it's just missing its two tentacles.) Not exactly sure who thought it needed some bizarre new classification or why. Squid are awfully cool as is.
