Attack on NPR and PBS

Postby Beaver » Thu Feb 23, 2017 11:33 am

Those ad-free stations sure are annoying to Republicans. Too much art and science.

Eliminating arts funding programs will save Donald Trump just 0.0625% of budget
'It’s sad in a way because those programs aren’t causing the deficit. These programs don’t amount to a hill of beans'
http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-enter ... 90356.html

"It emerged over the weekend that Donald Trump is moving forward with his plans to axe the National Endowments for the Arts and the Humanities (which partially funds NPR and PBS), the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and other programs as he looks to prune public spending.

The White House budget office has drafted a “hit list” of programs, according to The New York Times, all of which cost under $500 million a year to run. In fact, they total approximately $2.5 billion - just 0.0625% of the projected $4 trillion budget. “It’s sad in a way because those programs aren’t causing the deficit,” Steve Bell of the Bipartisan Policy Center told the Times. “These programs don’t amount to a hill of beans.”

Now you've done it - you've pissed off Toby:
He continued, "And he's deleting all the parts in PBS Kids just to make a wall. He shouldn't do all that stuff."

Toby has a much better set set of priorities than that slimy weasal, Tom Cotton.
Finally, Cotton said, "Toby, you can still have one and have the other."

That's a nice platitude, Tom, but the fact is you don't want both.

FYI, the completely stupid wall will probably cost about ten times the annual budget of CPB.

Good riddance. Who needs Morning Edition (with that consummate asshole Steve Inskeep) and All Things Considered when we have MSDNC with its pro-war propaganda 24/7.

I've resolved never to give another nickel to Wisconsin Public Radio as long as they keep broadcasting NPR news.

Fuck NPR.

Can I get a Halleluia.

Fuck NPR and fuck the Democratic Party while you're at it.

Good. No need for government funded media. I can't think of a worse idea.

It's logical if you think who the Trump supporters are: they watch FOX, if they can afford a t.v. set.

NPR and PBS are important. They are not political, so why try to make them out as "big government"? The USA spends too little on the arts and humanities as it is.

It would also be stupid of Trump to do this because disillusioned supporters will just work harder for the success of the blue wave.

I'm with Ned. Public broadcasting is useless. It's a dinosaur. No other countries are doing it. And if they are, they're failing. I've asked around. I don't think this is even controversial.

Hmm no mention of the money brought in by Big Bird with a $356-million net worth. How many millions do the Muppets bring in. And PBS has paid ads like any other channel; just shorter and less detailed.

PBS and NPR can easily stand on their own feet. It is time they do so.

To parry this assault on his creativity, Ned posts a gif. Of course.

How about this: every time the day-to-day weather is colder than normal, crowing that it is evidence that global warming is not real, but failing to mention a 70 degree February day in Wisconsin. If someone were to do that, they would look like a real chickenshit. That's a pretty bad idea.

Both are weather, not climate.
