This just has the potential for pure comedy gold, and incredibly annoyed law enforcement officers.

In the Andy of Mayberry Show, Andy would sometimes setup a situation where Barney could arrest a criminal as a way to boost Barney's fragile ego.

How would you like to be one of those guardsman, hanging around the real border patrol to help them spot bad guys? I seriously expect a few apprehensions will be planted to ease the political embarrassment of the operation.

BorderMania Jumps the Shark
There are a few things worth saying about Mr. Perry’s surge.

1. Not since President Woodrow Wilson sent thousands of Guardsmen to the border to chase Pancho Villa in 1916 – where they suffered from heatstroke, sandstorms and rattlesnake bites, but didn’t get their man – has so much effort been made for so little purpose.

2. Actual Texas sheriffs at the actual border seem to think Mr. Perry’s maneuver is stupid.

3. I’d like to note that a state Senator from McAllen, Juan Hinojosa, according to The Dallas Morning News, said that if crime were a reason to call out the National Guard, it would be better to send the troops to Dallas and Houston.

What a pathetic attempt at misdirection by Lawrence Downes. To begin with they are not "fleeing" by tens of thousands, they are coming mostly by misdirection from human traffickers and invitation from the Administration.

Even if President Obama stood on the White House steps and said specifically, "South American nations, please send us your children, they'll be fine!" I wonder if that would be enough to convince tens of thousands of families that they should send their children, alone, thousands of miles away where they can't speak the language.

The administration is floating the idea of setting up a processing center in Honduras to accept refugee applicants. I think it is a fantastic idea, I'm thrilled that Obama might actually take a creative action. It allows controlled refugee flow, cuts-out the traffickers.

Judging by reactions, the right hates it because we'll be accepting thousands of refugees.

The left will probably see it as political cover for Obama to deport most of the refugees that are here now. True enough.

An intelligent compromise will be something that disappoints everyone. I doubt it will fly, our piece of shit country is incapable of accepting intelligent solutions.

Breaking news on Fox: Another resort is opening to house Central Americans.

Actually, it's not a resort, it's the Karnes County Residential Center in Texas. It used to be a detention center, but now Fox says it offers "suites" for living. Apparently they also have some shared spaces with TVs. Gasp. They also have classrooms.

On the one hand, the right is mad that the kids are getting dispersed around the country. Then when a large facility is procured to hold large numbers, that is too good for the detainees.

Well, it looks like there was a bill dealing the border crisis. And it failed in the House, because Sen. Cruz decided to play Speaker of the House, and convinced all the wackos (of which there are so many) not to support.

So they came back with a new bill. And decided to switch the focus from dealing with a humanitarian crisis to Deportation-a-go-go.

This bill has the approval of uber-wackos Michell Bachman and Steve "legs the size of cantaloupes" King. Holy fuck.

Calves the size of cantaloupes. Got to paint the picture.

My position on this problem has evolved a bit. U.S. policy and drug use is largely to blame for the violence in Honduras & El Salvador. We essentially squeezed the drug traffickers into that region. We can't morally treat people fleeing that region the same as Mexican migrants.

On the other hand, liberals who simply talk about the humanitarian side are not offering a practical solution.

This problem is so complex. The full humanitarian solution might involve a large investment in Central America, plus some deportations to some soft landing.

Unfortunately, the Republican solution probably would work pretty well if you just view the problem narrowly. Deportations will shut down the traffic in a hurry.

The underlying conflict with all immigration debates is that a considerable slice of America wants no new poor people allowed in, and all the brown folk here illegally deported. That leaves no space for a solution.

Watch Iowa Representative Steve King endear himself to Tea Party lunatics while making a complete ass of himself on camera. It's worth watching the whole thing because he actually seems more offensive as time goes on, essentially labeling two young immigrants as criminals even though one says he was brought to the country when he was only five years old.

And some colossal douche in the background decides it's a good idea to start shouting "go home" over and over.

Yeah, that was some filth to behold.
What is up with this filthy stew of hate coming into ever clearer focus the last decade or so?
Me be hoping that bubble will break,

Perry's p.r. move, in his bid for the GOP presidential nomination, has backfired. It's costing Texas many millions of dollars and now he wants the feds to pay for it.

Seeing as the fed's refused to mobilize the national guard when he first asked them to (probably because among other reasons, they didn't want to pay for it), I can see this going well for him. Once again a fine display of his amazing intellectual powers.
