When applying for Tax-Free status -- aka. to be one of the "Takers" as it is often called -- an organization should not be surprised if they might have to "answer a few questions." That is what the IRS does. If Tax-Free status were "free" -- well who would we have left to be the "Makers"?
That's from here, as is the pie chart below:http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/05/2 ... ea-related
Why isn't the blue part of the pie chart screaming as loud as the yellow part?
This whole thing is getting sillier and sillier, particularly when you consider two facts:
1) nobody has yet paid any taxes on the basis of these decisions; and
2) one way to find out whether an organization is political or not is to look at its donors' list. I'm getting the distinct impression withholding those donors' lists is just as important to the screaming organizations as never having to pay any taxes. Don't think we don't notice, you folks in the yellow sector. It looks a whole lot like you've got something to hide. Otherwise you'd just lay out your cards, prove your point, take your tax-free status and go home.
It's incumbent upon those who disagree with this conclusion to address the question directly and support their reasoning.
Fortunately I have plenty of worthwhile things to do while I wait.
