From those crazy libs over at Bloomberg today:Marco Rubio Is Scared to Death
Rubio's defensive crouch was indicative of his party as a whole: Faced with undeniable proof that their policies are unpopular, Republicans are nevertheless terrified of change, fearful of alienating the conservative base voters whose anger they cultivated so assiduously just a short while ago. If Obama seemed especially jaunty delivering his remarks, he had reason. It's hard for Republicans to appear threatening to their opponents when they are cowering in fear of their friends.
the problem, and people like "The One" are simply illustrating it for you. Republicans have simply groomed their base too thoroughly and for too long to simply change directions. Republican voters really
believe that there's a war on Christmas. They really
believe that global warming is a liberal hoax so that despotical tyrants like Al Gore and Barack Obama can cash in.
Essentially, Republicans have spent so much time misinforming their voters and scapegoating virtually every minority group in the country that there's no way to simply turn a 180. A mean, shit, Republicans hate the French
for some crazy reason. The depth and scope of their mean-spiritedness will not be easily reversed.
