Michigan - the aftermath

Postby kurt_w » Wed Dec 19, 2012 10:09 am

As we discussed at some length here recently, Michigan governor Rick Snyder just signed a piece of aggressively anti-union legislation.

How's that working out for him?

His approval polls just dropped by a staggering 28 points (from net +10 to net -18). He's become one of the three least popular governors in the US. He's trailing every potential Democratic candidate that PPP asked about in their poll.

The Republicans in the legislature are even less popular. On a generic-ballot poll, voters give the Democrats a massive 24-point advantage, one of the largest PPP has ever seen in any poll of any state.

The Republicans' only hope is that voters will have short memories.

Snyder must be trying to make amends. He vetoed Michigan's guns at school legislation (passed to him by the Republican legislature) because, he said, it didn't have an opt-out feature.
