Mitt Romney's Role in the Obama Administration

Postby pjbogart » Wed Nov 14, 2012 10:43 pm

There's a lot of swirling talk about how Mitt Romney could help Obama deal with some of the economic problems facing our nation and frankly, I'm getting kind of sick of it. Mitt Romney is not an economist. Mitt Romney is not a brilliant businessman. Mitt Romney knows how to tear a company apart, apply for federal aid, file a bankruptcy, seize pension funds, move jobs overseas and basically step on anyone and everyone in the process of filling his pockets with lovely money. We need advice like that about as badly as we need John Bolton running the CIA.

Mitt Romney ran one of the most disgusting and dishonest campaigns for the Presidency that Americans have ever witnessed. The entire campaign was premised on lies too numerous to rehash. Mitt Romney deserves to be forgotten by Democrats and Republicans alike for embarrassing himself and his party by pretending that being wealthy makes you somehow a superior person.

For those of you willing to consider an olive branch to this serial liar, consider his latest comments about the election:

"The Obama campaign was following the old playbook of giving a lot of stuff to groups that they hoped they could get to vote for them and be motivated to go out to the polls, specifically the African American community, the Hispanic community and young people," Romney told hundreds of donors during a telephone town hall Wednesday. "In each case they were very generous in what they gave to those groups."

Romney attributes loss to 'gifts' Obama gave minorities

Oh, but wait, there's more!

"With regards to African American voters, 'Obamacare' was a huge plus — and was highly motivational to African American voters. You can imagine for somebody making $25—, or $30—, or $35,000 a year, being told you're now going to get free healthcare — particularly if you don't have it, getting free healthcare worth, what, $10,000 a family, in perpetuity, I mean this is huge. Likewise with Hispanic voters, free healthcare was a big plus."

"With regards to Hispanic voters, the amnesty for the children of illegals — the so-called Dream Act kids — was a huge plus for that voting group," he said. "On the negative side, of course, they always characterized us as being anti-immigrant, being tough on illegal immigration, and so forth, so that was very effective with that group."

"The president's campaign," he said, "focused on giving targeted groups a big gift — so he made a big effort on small things. Those small things, by the way, add up to trillions of dollars."

Apparently Mitt Romney is still in campaign mode. After his 47% comments were widely publicized, Romney spent a great deal of time talking about how he cares about 100% of Americans. It certainly didn't take him long to admit that it was just campaign rhetoric. Congratulations to America for seeing through his clever disguise.

I'm still worried Romney will become the next President somehow. When are the electoral votes cast, Dec 13? What if not enough of them vote for Obama for some reason? What if Obama is assassinated? Would the second leading vote getter become pres? The Repubs have so many dirty tricks up their sleeve I'm worried something will happen. I won't celebrate until after the Obama inauguration in Jan.

Wow. I hope you aren't as fearful as your post sounds.

Electors switching their votes on the scale that would be required to give the election to Romney is completely unprecedented in history. There is no reason to think that would happen now.

If something happened to the President, the Vice President is next in the line of succession, followed by the Speaker of the House (no bargain there to be sure). But Romney is out of it. If you must worry, worry about Boehner.
