Obama is currently leading the Electoral Vote polls by 332 to 206. Not as much as in 2008 when he won 365 to 173. Of course, the polls will change between now and Nov so we will have to see what happens.
They say that every year. It's good for hits. The media does an excellent job of trying to keep races close to maximize their ad revenue. They attempt to blow every tiny misstep into a Waterloo moment, complete with flashing "Breaking News" icons and predictable analysis from shameless partisans. I'm not sure that we have much left in the way of actual news.
