So can anyone doubt we are led by a fascist pig?

Do you watch golf?

Kim chee pancakes are quite traditionally Korean--bindaetuk they're called. Egg, wheat flour, kim chee, a little soy sauce, and green onions. Yum!

I only watch golf every once in a while. Normally I find it blindingly dull, but I admit I watched an entire game a couple of years ago when Sorenstam was playing. Wow, what a strong player! I think I can survive a mediocre performance of a fast sport like hockey or tennis more easily than a mediocre slow sport like golf.

Does anyone know if our hotter-than-normal weather would be too hot for making good kimchee, or just hot enough? I know it's buried in the ground, but with heat and no rain...?

No idea. Certainly it would pickle a lot faster in this weather. The kimjang (pickling jar) is traditionally buried up to its neck, I believe, so the effect is like mulching plants.

I usually keep it in the refrigerator, myself. It seems to pickle just fine in there.

Went to a game at Sox park recently and still wondering why I bother. However, they were playing the Brewers, who lost unfortunately. That must have been why I went.

I've been into pickling hard boiled eggs lately. Going through several recipes to find just the right mix. Oh, and using the frig rather than the hole-in-the-ground approach.

Oh baseball, America's favorite pastime...reminds me of my favorite pastime, Grateful Dead concerts. There's an inextricable link between Madison and The Grateful Dead. And when I say that, I'm being Dead Serious, if you know what I mean.

I never went through a Dead phase (or a cock-rock phase). I went through an Oh-my-God-are-you-gay phase which included The Cure, The Smiths and New Order and I went through a Shut-that-shit-off-phase which included The Descendants, The Dead Kennedy's and the Pixies. Currently I reside in my Pitchfork snob phase, which includes Radiohead, The Flaming Lips and Sonic Youth.

But I've never owned a Grateful Dead album. Nor a first generation '87 Deer Creek.

Oh come now PJ, everyone knows that Deer Creek didn't open until the summer of 1989;) By then, those big white commodes in the men's room were morphing into a soaring Pegasus and just flying out of the room...as opposed to the Dane County Coliseum, which just hovered a few hundred feet off the ground like a giant spaceship sucking the locals into a vortex of smiles and patchouli.

I saw The Dead many times over the years. Interestingly, I've also seen Motorhead many times over the years, although not as many times as I saw the Dead. Go figure...

My brother, a deadhead, saw Jerry's last show in Chicago on July 9, 1995.

In this weather kim chee takes three days on my kitchen counter.

My sister saw the Beatles in Milwaukee in 1966 or 67.

I never saw anybody.

Not even Gene McCarthy at the Coliseum. What year was that? There was a line of cars clear up Park Street waiting to get in.

I saw Heep around '78 or '79. They were opening for Kiss. I didn't stay.
