The OFFICIAL 2012 Election Thread!

Postby Remember_Me » Mon Apr 30, 2012 8:01 pm

It's so much more official when you capitalize the word.

Anyway, every election year the forums become inundated with threads and posts that pertain to the year's election. And every fucking year it becomes a big giant mess on trying to keep track of what was said where and by whom.

In an effort to circumvent such a mess, if we could have a single thread dedicated to the issue of this year's election I think that would be wonderful.

Just an idea and am looking to see if others agree. If not, why?

If so... then here we go...

Half the fun is coming up with new snarky thread titles.

And then re-hashing what we talked about in 43 other threads.

So I say no to any "OFFICIAL" threads.

Nice threads dude.

I don't agree, because elections involve a lot of different issues and personalities that don't lend themselves to being contained in a single thread. Just one example is the DNR thread, to which Jason created a second thread to explore a particular aspect of the issue he was interested in. The DNR issue is just one of several that have a bearing on the election. Surely you don't advocate having all these issues, including labor relations, education cuts, Koch Bros, etc in one big thread? We can't even keep the DNR enforcement issue in one thread!

Oh trust me, I definitely understand the challenges that comes with it.

I just remember the election threads of years past... oyyy!

And each POTUS election only gets bigger and messier.

I'm just wondering if there's some kind of way to have some semblance of order to it all this year.

I really do think aggregating all the major election-related issues into one thread is better than the alternative. This ain't the mid-terms or a local/state election. I remember 4 years ago. I'd much prefer a one-stop shop for all the latest happenings over the next 6 months.

But hey, that's just me.

I just hope JJ will be on full troll patrol. I have a feeling this year is going to see them coming out of the woodwork in a way we've never seen them before.

He's gonna need to print up a whole new batch of troll certificates.
