If the health care law goes down, then what?

This writer says it's a good day for more liberal voters:

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2012 ... ls-do/?hp#

I tend to agree. A lot will depend on the details of the USSC's ruling, what they invalidate and what they save. Too many compromises were made in the crafting of the present bill, which was well-intended but burdened with numerous detours on the path to health coverage for all. And regardless of what the SC says in the case being argued today, nothing's going to happen right away due to political timing and general exhaustion with the topic.

Ultimately the push for change needs to come from the people, same as it has to come from the people on the castle doctrine. By now the public knows how to pick out iconic abuses and rally support outside of the political arena first, leaving lawmakers to catch up. I believe this is the way healthcare will go, over time. In other words, a bunch of people have to die needlessly to get politicians' attention.

Then Obama can be an amazing leader, and tell the American public, "look, the GOP are the ones who demanded we rid of the public single payer option from the health care act. To protect their monied special interests, they demanded that this individual mandate be added to the health care law before they would consider voting for it. Now we can go back and do it the RIGHT way, instituting a public single-payer option , a Medicare for everybody."

Yeah, then I woke up.

And looked at from the contrary angle, if I follow your cynical logic, a supreme court decision in which the health insurance law stays up will mean GOP wins in the November elections, PelosiReidCare will be repealed, and the new congress will have an opportunity to create a universal tax to pay for people who can't pay for emergency room and catastrophic medical care. Everyone else: buy your own private insurance in the open market, which will then be free of the free riders, causing insurance premiums to go down for everyone, and people like the snoqueen will have to look for something other than "health care" to demagogue. Waaaa.

For everyone that can actually get coverage, that is.

As much as I hate to wish ill will on anyone, it is especially difficult not to do so with those who appear to lack any basic ability to empathize.

There are some who could obviously use an eye-opener.

Cons are still pretending that "competition" and "free, open markets" lead to lower prices, rather than what really happens: corruption and collusion among providers.

Sorry, wick wack, I'm afraid you are confusing competition, freedom, and open markets with socialism, progressivism, and Stalinism.

How about this then: Need help moving to Massachusetts? Call me. I'll help you pack. Poor thing.

No, mud, I live in the real world, I'm not confusing anything.

I know. The real world of utopia. Imagine no possessions, man. It's easy if you try.

Or, get with someone at a public University.

Ironically, repealing the law now is going to probably drive insurance costs UP for most folks: insurance companies have been haphazardly scrambling to be ready for the big changes in 2014 and will see this change in the future as an opportunity to spend more money on research, restructuring, marketing, etc.

Better still - get with someone at a public university in Massachusetts.

I see. Your world view comes from song lyrics. That explains a lot.
