What's wrong with the GOP, anyway?

Some Republican politicans say the extreme anti-abortion push by their brethren is what's wrong with the GOP.

GOP in key states tries to slow anti-abortion push

Leading Republicans in Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and other swing states want to fend off new abortion proposals to avoid alienating voters not enamored of the party's aggressive social agenda. They are particularly concerned about women and young people.

Situational ethics at its basest level.

Krugman has a nice article on it...

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/05/opini ... html?_r=1&

For a long time the Republican establishment got its way by playing a con game with the party’s base. Voters would be mobilized as soldiers in an ideological crusade, fired up by warnings that liberals were going to turn the country over to gay married terrorists, not to mention taking your hard-earned dollars and giving them to Those People. Then, once the election was over, the establishment would get on with its real priorities — deregulation and lower taxes on the wealthy.

The GOP seems to attract all the racists, especially now that we have a black president.

What Links the Neo-Confederate Virginia Flaggers, Barack Obama & Race

...in the South, where exit polls show Obama with just 21.8 percent of white voters in the states of the former Confederacy.

Senator Harry Reid (D) Nevada:
Barack Obama – whom he described as a "light skinned" African-American "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one"

Vice President Joe Biden (D) Mars:
"the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy."

William Jefferson Clinton (D) Ex-POTUS, Universal Stud:
Former President Bill Clinton's efforts to persuade Sen. Edward M. Kennedy to endorse his wife's presidential bid fell flat when Clinton told the Democratic lawmaker that just a few years ago, "Obama would have been serving the pair coffee."

Hillary Clinton (D) New York:
(Obama is) a truly inspirational speaker who has not done the spade work....

Are you implying those things mean that any of those people would have voted for a Republican over Obama because of race? Because I'm sure that isn't true & if that isn't your meaning you're just trying to be offensive again, right?

Three politicians have said something insensitive about the President that can be construed as racist, and another used the word "spade" in the same sentence as the president, even though she was figuratively referring to a shovel. Therefore, the GOP is not racist.

Or maybe the GOP is racist but only because there's a way to imply that the Democrats are. Because the GOP uses them for role models or something.

DOT official likens illegal immigrants to Satan, then quickly fired

"If I had it to do over, I would not have put it up," Krieser said. "I certainly didn't mean any offense."

cause really who would take offense to being called Satan?

Walker immediatly fired him, so there is that.

In case the name Krieser sounds familiar, in 2011
he sent a memo to Division of Motor Vehicles employees saying they should not voluntarily tell state residents that they can obtain a voter identification card for free.

From the same article:
On Wednesday, Rep. Gordon Hintz, an Oshkosh Democrat, triggered the heated discussion by posting on his Facebook page a photo of a bumper sticker that was on sale at a Mobil gas station in Germantown. The bumper sticker said, "USA Illegal Immigrant Hunting Permit — No Bag Limit — Tagging Not Required."
...
A Journal Sentinel photographer bought the last available anti-immigration sticker at the Germantown service station on Thursday afternoon after trying unsuccessfully to talk about it with the cashier. The photographer said the cashier could not understand English well.

Well, where did you EXPECT the racists to turn, after the Dems shamefully turned their backs on them back in the 1960s!

Someone has to be the Big Tent Party, and I'm proud that my GOP attracts both racist whites AND non-racist whites.

The new right-wing book of the moment is American Betrayal, by Diana West, which offers the thesis that American foreign policy under presidents Roosevelt, Truman, and Eisenhower was secretly controlled by the Soviet Union.

Sensible people might react to this rodeo incident in one of two ways: castigating this idiot for his offensive behavior, or ignoring him completely.

But if you're Peggy Noonan, you think the President should embrace this lovely free speech hero!

And then there is Steve "cantaloupe thighs" Stockman.

The President is "arrogantly" trying to bring American schools into the 20th century, perhaps sometime during the 21st century. Outrageous!
Rep. Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.) said recent executive actions by President Obama, including a plan to extend high-speed Internet connections to virtually every school in the nation, demonstrate a "blatant" attempt to subvert the will of the American people.
...
"He has an agenda and he's going to do whatever he has to do to pass that agenda, regardless of the Constitution," Grimm said. "I mean, I think our founding fathers are turning over in the graves right now because he's just so blatant in his— the administrators, the people he puts in charge of these agencies are bold and brazen about saying, 'yes, we're going to make an end run around Congress.'"

Just show me in the Constitution where it says that schools should have internets! I dare you.

And while we're at it, we should probably rethink this whole 'library' concept. Does that really reflect the will of the people?
