Chad Lee, D'oh

Postby Henry Vilas » Fri May 21, 2010 4:19 pm

I haven't heard anything recently about Tammy's GOP opponent. Until this.

The website for a candidate running for Congress in Wisconsin's second district includes passages that were apparently copied from the websites of Rep. Paul Ryan and another candidate.

Republican Chad Lee is running against Rep. Tammy Baldwin. His website included passages that matched word-for-word statements on Ryan's and District 7 candidate Sean Duffy's websites, WISC-TV reported.

"It was a clerical error. The editorial process didn't work as it was supposed to, and we're instituting a process that will work," said David Summers, political director for Lee's campaign.

That's what you get when trying to put a campaign together on the cheap. So should Ryan be flattered or annoyed?

Maybe the question is more like this: should whoever Ryan and Duffy stole their copy from feel flattered or annoyed?

Not like he has any new ideas anyway. Same old tired Republican talking points...

"It was a clerical error. The editorial process didn't work as it was supposed to, and we're instituting a process that will work," said David Summers, political director for Lee's campaign.

So Dave, what exactly was the clerical error? That someone didn't edit the plagiarized material to make it look enough like original ideas to be somewhat believable as ideas coming from Chad? Call me old-fashioned, but I still believe that the ideas and statements of a candidate for office should come from the candidate for office.

When asked whether Summers would call what happened plagiarism, he replied, "I would call it inspired."

So the "clerical error" was "inspired."

Words fail me.

Hey, it took him a long time to fill in those "information coming soon" blanks.

He most likely didn't go into this with the intention of beating Tammy. It is just to get his name out there for when a real opportunity presents itself. He just has to be the (R) to get around 30%, and why incur costs when they won't return later as votes?

How many votes do you think he lost because of this? Nobody who cares about these kind of details was going to vote for him in the first place.

It makes sense for him to run again, 2010 just wasn't a good year for inexperienced Republicans to get elected.

There almost isn't a point to holding elections for Moore's, Sensenbrenner's, and Baldwin's seats.
