Races for the Senate, U.S. House, etc. and other issues of national importance.

Do you support Net Neutrality?

Yes - a free and open internet is what the United States is all about.
No - I hate freedom. Please hand over the People's Internet to Verizon and SBC.

Network Neutrality

Postby Jesse Russell » Tue Jun 20, 2006 12:59 pm

The issue of network neutrality hasn't really been discussed on tDPF (as far as I know, but I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong). I'm just curious what forons are thinking about it being the interweb savvy bunch you are.

Kristian has an excellant piece today on the Daily Page concerning Kohl's ambiguous position.

Waxing America also really digs into the guts of the issue today.

And then of course the site I'm affliated with, Dane101 (and myself specifically) has been obsessing over the matter.

So what do you think? Is network neutrality, where the Internet stays as is and competition remains (generally) fair the best way to go? Or would you rather have two-tiers - one for high quality content that moves at high speeds and one for user made content that moves at slow speeds - and of course where only a handful of telecoms control competition on the Internet?
