Zambrano 1 Gatorade Machine 0

So anyone else catch Big Z's fit of roid rage and his dismantling of that poor helpless thirst quencher? I understand it was mocking him relentlessly but is this really the best way to handle it? Anyways I hope the Big Z gets a Big break from playing ball so he can focus more on Carlos.

Dempster had already smashed it pretty good earlier in the week. I think they need to go back to the coolers, and put a rubber room for the pitchers back behind the dugout.

It's not even hot and humid yet, and they're losing it.......

If he was looking for Milton's seal of approval, it worked: That was pretty impressive. It was on a Bradley level.

You know it's a bad sign when LOU PINIELLA is advocating for someone to calm down.

And they say irony is dead.

I watched both Dempster's Monday (BTW, Ted Lilly was ejected from that game and he wasn't even pitching) and Z's Wednesday cooler abuse (helps to have an MLB.TV subscription). Considering how the team spent the St Louis and San Diego series sleepwalking (3 runs in a six-game stretch), it was somewhat nice to see some signs of life - as rabid as they may be.

Remember 2007: Mt. Lou's eruption and Z and Michael Barrett fighting in the dugout happened during the same weekend and during a six-game losing streak. They went like 65-45 the rest of the way and won the division. Maybe something crazy like this is what the team needed.

6 game suspension and a fine. Kind of weak when you consider he was likely to only see action once over the next 6 games.

Still, you gotta love him for trying to throw the UMP out of the game. I wonder if Lou's ever tried to do THAT?

Off to YouTube I go....

I'm not saying it wasn't funny as hell. It was.

Frankly, I think Macha's mini-fit about the hit by pitch in the Minnesota series was a lame attempt at firing up the team. It had nowhere near the conviction or entertainment value of Zambrano's freakout.

I agree, Macha needs to work on his routine. Pretty lame.

But both catchers and managers getting thrown out in Red Sox/Twins last night was excellent. Soon it will be time for the first bench-clearing brawl, despite the warning from the home plate ump.

Hockey is ending, baseball must take up the slack!

Triple A umpires inspire that kind of reaction with those close calls.

A bench clearing brawl in baseball with 30 participants will never be as good as an honest to goodness 1-on-1 hockey fight (nevermind a bench clearer where the goalies drop the gloves).
