Yep it all comes down to that first snap of the season. If Brett's not in Purple that day then I'll believe he's done. Alright maybe that wont even be enough. There's always next year. Maybe a year further away from surgery and watching everyone have so much fun out there every Sunday he'll again reconsider. I think the Pack should put the marketing position back on the table and retire his number before he changes his mind again.

Favre wants to play on Sundays, but doesn't want to go to training camp. Major Dad has said that if Favre wanted to QB on Sundays, he'd have to come to camp. So long as George Hearst maintains this position, Favre stays retired. However, if Zygi realizes he needs Favre to fill the seats in the Humpdome, or if Rick Simon realizes that Rosencranz and Gildenstern are not to be found (either of which is a distinct possibility), we may yet again hear about another unretirement. That plugging Favre into the starting QB role without the benefit of training camp would be a disaster is just the frosting on the cake.

The President of the Viking's Fan Club is none too pleased with these developments.

Unfortunately, his past Metrodome record doesn't really come into play this time. The fans will probably keep the decibel level as close to pin drop every time the Vikes are in the red zone. At least every time he tosses a pick, it will set a new record for lifetime interceptions.

Favre's agent says it is "a done deal"...

WSJ story

Apparently, this was all just a ruse to get Favre out of training camp.

While I am still thoroughly enjoying the perfect ending to that game (and season) I feel it is really necessary to start the Favre retirement watch again.

Our dear friends to the west have only yet begun to enjoy the drama of having #4 on the roster.

Vikings Fans and KFAN both have put up billboards in Favre's home town. Asking him to come back. More quality fans then some of the Packers fans. Come back, Brett. This from 5 converted Packer fans. Go Vikings. 120,000 signed up on facebook to support the Vikings and Favre.

Really? You boil down 16 years to one off-season where he retired then un-retired? We spent a good five years saying come back Brett.

Anywho. These poor Vikings fans. I hope he strings em along til August.
