On the bright side the brewers have played 16 innings of good baseball.

Bad ball first pitch swinging. Ugh.

If things play out the way it looks like they will I want to see Joe Torre win the World Series with the Dodgers. Take that NY!

If that were true they'd be winning. Breaking even doesn't cut it - they need to hit. Last time I checked, the team with the most runs wins.

Holding a team to 3 runs is fine, 5 - not so great but not insurmountable.

The Brewer's couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat lately. That coupled with not being the greatest fielding team has led to most of their problems.

Oh, and most of their pitching (especially the bullpin) sucks.

Not a recipe for playoff success...

Bullpen has given up zero post-season runs. I'd certainly take long relief over letting Suppan or Sheets get the fifth right now.

You know, you're right. Sorry, scratch the bullpen from the list.

For now.

At home where they couldn't lose during the season. And with the best record NL record.

My expectations for the Brewers were for them to pretty much do what they're doing. However, the Cubs should, once again, be ashamed. But they won't be. And everyone will talk about how great next year is going to be.

As a Red Sox fan, I am kind of pulling for the Cubs to do it. Those 2 ALDS down 0-2, the 2004 ALCS 0-3, and even last year vs. Cleveland in the ALCS were all great series that epitomized the drama of October baseball. Cubs could add some intrigue to this post-season. Or they could get swept, or in classic Cubs/formerly Red Sox fashion bring the fans to the brink in the final game and screw it up royally. We'll see.

Not sure if the Brewers can do much with Dave Bush as the stopper (and no hitting to speak of as well as a very suspect bullpen). I expect Sveum to throw everybody on Saturday, and maybe shuffle the lineup.

Crazy statistic. The Dodgers have thrown 79 1/3 innings against the Cubs this year and not a single pitch has been tossed by a lefty. If I'm an agent representing a left-handed hitter this offseason, I've got Jim Hendry on speed-dial.

Back atcha, punks. Leave it to bitter, hate-filled Brewer fan to spin getting swept out of the playoffs into a victory for lowered expectations. At least if it happens to my team tomorrow, I won't feel solace in anything other than the knowledge that at least the Cubs' key components will be back to re-defend the division title and that they didn't trade away the farm in order to get where they are now.
