Predictions for the Jets now that they've got Favre

Postby crevice beatle » Sun Aug 10, 2008 8:06 pm

The Jet's season schedule is as follows:

1)@Miami
2)New England
3)@San Diego
4)Arizona
5)BYE
6)Cincinnati
7)@Oakland
8)Kansas City
9)@Buffalo
10)St.Louis
11)@New England
12)@Tennessee
13)Denver
14)@San Francisco
15)Buffalo
16)@Seattle
17)Miami

Taking into consideration Favre will need time to adjust my prediction is 8-8.

That's a super soft schedule out side of the Pats and Chargers. They could go 10-6, 11-5 maybe compete for a wild Card. They made a bunch of other upgrades all over that team.

Do the Jets have a good enough O line to protect Favre? If not, he might see his long string of starts broken. So who's his backup?

Kellen Clemens gets to hold the clipboard this year. They added Alan Faneca and some other guy on what was a bad line last year. should be a big improvement. But yeah I could see the old man going down this year. If it happens it will be cool that it was him playing until he couldn't physically rather than retirement ending The Streak.

Deanne gets a semi-regular spot on The View. Farve gets back into Vitamin V and the celebrity circus of New York. It all ends up in tragedy which then gets portrayed on a Law and Order episode next spring during sweeps.

Perfect! Good call --- I'd put my money on this happening before I would on the Jets making the playoffs
this year.

I personally think the Jets are better than 4-12. They've got a solid line now with Faneca at Guard, Thomas Jones should do well at RB, and they have at least two good starting receivers (and Clowney, who Green Bay drafted, had 150 yards and 2 TDs in Jets 1st preseason game).

All that being said, I think it'll take him some time to learn the offense, he's a year older, and the Jets are not nearly as talented as the Packers.

6-10, 8-8 at best.

6-10. No receivers (Laveranues Coles? Jerricho Cothery? David Clowney? You must be shitting me). Average RBs, although they do have an improved O line. Defense is pedestrian.

And they have a QB who didn't want to keep doing the hard work that brought him so much success last season, now having to learn a new system. This has 2005 written all over it for #4.

I think Favre has a bigger impact on the whole team - sometimes the right attitude can put players above where they would typically play. I think even with their mediocre talent in the receiving team, they still get it done.

I'm going 10-6.

Just bumping this one up, in light of their 9-5 record, and the premature end of the Packer's playoff hopes.

Never would have guessed that we'd be 5-9 and the Jets would be 9-5.

And that QB play would have almost nothing to do with it (at least on our end).
