Perfect End to the Perfect Season!

Postby HooferX » Sun Feb 03, 2008 10:11 pm

New York Giants: 17
New England Patriots: 14

I think we can all now acknowledge that the NYG deserve their credit, having denied pretty boy Brady and gang the prize. Even the Packers can't deny divine will.

There really must be some interesting social-structural dynamics in the Manning family.

At one point on that last drive, NE 14 NY 10, it was 4th & 1 with 1:40 left in the 4th quarter and the ball on the 41, score in Super Bowl 42. That's when I knew the Giants were destined to win.

I feel better. At least we took the Giants to OT.

Does that mean we can hold claim on "runner-up" status?

I envy those in the shower curtain rod business in Boston this week.

On Manning's final drive, I looked over to a friend and said, "This is The Drive of this generation."

It isn't the same as The Drive (and I am a life long Browns fan), but in some ways it is even better and I am sure that the Boston fans will see it just as the Browns fans remember.

A couple big plays that I won't soon forget:

1) Manning escapes the rush somehow, heaves the ball to Tyree, who inexplicably lands with a ball he had no business catching because Rodney Harrison presumably was going for the INT instead of the ball-jarring hit. Traps the ball on his helmet while falling backwards. Damn that's good!

even better...

2) Bradshaw's fumble that the Patriots recovered initially, but Bradshaw actually turned the guy over and ripped the ball out of this guy's hands. Bradshaw literally robbed him of the ball while he was on the ground on camera. Scrappiest play I've seen all year.

no. i can't believe the stuff coming out of packers fans' mouths.

'at least we look better, now'
'this means we could have beat the patriots'

you lost. in the nfl, there is no booby prize.

I don't think he was going for the int, he tried knocking it away with his hand, the receiver just had a strong grip on the ball and trapped it agaisnt his head. The 3 Pats standing around watching it was rather curious. When a ball is thrown that high over the middle that late its almost never completed. Good work by the reciver, F- for the defense.

Hi. My name is Ned and I'm a Giants fan.

What scrappers, what grit, what heart, what toughness. The ultimate underdog/redemption story.

Someone said that Coughlin started out the season as "the crazy uncle yelling at kids at the barbeque" and ended it as a genius.
